Da'em tells you when each of the five prayers has come in, asks whether you prayed, and keeps the answer on your iPhone. There is no account, no server and nothing to sign in to.

The times do not match my mosque

Open Settings › Prayer times. Two settings account for most of the difference: Method, which sets the sun angles used for Fajr and ʿIshāʾ, and Shadow rule, which decides when ʿAsr begins. Set them to what your mosque follows.

If a prayer is still a few minutes out after that, use Adjustments to move that one prayer up to 30 minutes either way, until the app agrees with the times you actually hear. Sunrise has no adjustment, because it is astronomy rather than an announcement, which is also why the Fajr window still ends exactly at sunrise, whatever you do to Fajr itself.

Today's times are listed at the bottom of the same screen, so you can see what a change did without leaving it.

Reminders stopped arriving

The top row of Settings answers this first: it says whether reminders can reach you, and opens the Health check, which asks iOS what it will actually allow, covering permission, banners, sounds, Time Sensitive, Lock Screen and Notification Centre. Anything switched off is named there, with a button that takes you straight to the right page in iOS Settings.

At the bottom of that screen, Send a test alert fires a real notification five seconds later, with its sound and both buttons. Lock your phone and wait for it.

If the test arrives but prayer reminders do not, that is a bug rather than a setting. Tell me.

I get the banner but no sound

The ring switch is on silent. In that state iOS plays no notification sound for any app, unless the app holds Apple's Critical Alerts entitlement, and Da'em does not use it, because that permission is meant for medical and safety alerts. The banner and the haptic still arrive.

If sound works for other apps but not this one, check Sounds in the Health check list, then Settings › Sounds for the tone set for that prayer.

Why is a prayer yellow instead of green?

Green means you prayed early in the window. Yellow means you prayed inside the window, later on. Both count as prayed and both count towards the day: yellow is not a failure.

Where the line falls is yours to set, in Settings › Reminders › Grading. "Green is measured by" is either a share of the window or a fixed number of minutes. A share usually fits better, because the windows are nothing like the same length: ʿIshāʾ can run for hours where Maghrib is under one.

Red means the window closed without an answer.

I answered the wrong thing, or forgot to answer

Open History and tap any prayer on any day. You can mark it prayed, mark it prayed at the mosque, mark it made up later, mark it missed, or clear the answer and leave the day as it was.

Days from before you installed the app are not tracked, so they cannot be filled in.

Can I get my record out of the app?

Settings › Data & privacy › Export CSV writes a file called Daem-<date>.csv and hands it to the share sheet, so you can put it in Files, mail it to yourself, or open it anywhere.

There is one row per prayer, carrying the day, the prayer, the start and end of its window, the time zone, its status and grade, when you answered, how many minutes after the window opened that was, whether it was made up, whether it was at the mosque, and which surface the answer came from.

Does anything leave my phone?

No. The app makes no network requests of any kind. There is no server behind it and no account to sync to. Prayer times are worked out on the device from your coordinates, and your record is a single file in the app's own storage.

You can confirm this yourself: turn on Airplane Mode and use the app normally. Nothing changes.

The privacy policy says the same thing at more length.

I set up a new iPhone. Where is my record?

If you restored the new phone from an encrypted iPhone or iCloud backup, your record came across with it: it is an ordinary file belonging to the app, so Apple's backup carries it like any other. If you set the phone up as new, the app starts empty, because there is nowhere outside your device for it to sync from.

So: if you are switching phones and not restoring from a backup, export a CSV first.

Can I use the app in Arabic while my phone is in English?

Yes, either way round. Settings › Language offers Match iPhone, English and العربية, and it changes the app only. Nothing else on your phone.

Location

Settings › Location works two ways.

Automatic uses your iPhone's location to work out times for where you are. Approximate location is enough, and the app only ever asks for it while you are using it.

Manual lets you search for a city, or type coordinates and a time zone yourself. That is the option if you would rather not grant location at all, or you want times for somewhere you are not.

Either way the location is used on the device to do the arithmetic, and is never sent anywhere.

A widget looks out of date

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets are refreshed by iOS on its own schedule rather than by the app, so a widget can lag by a few minutes. Opening Da'em brings it up to date immediately.

The medium and large Home Screen widgets carry I prayed and At the mosque while a window is open, and answering there writes to the same record the app shows. The small widget is a glance only: it shows where you are in the day, and does not ask.
